OUR STORY

Our story begins with the desire to keep things simple. We make small batch cold process soap, the same recipe humans have been using since the 11th century in the Eastern Mediterranean region. All our products are handmade in St. John’s Newfoundland with special attention to quality, customer service, local values.

Most store-bought soap bars are filled with chemicals and other ingredients that can damage your skin in an effort to reduce production costs. On the other hand, it is typically harder to find information on handmade organic soap from local markets without going to see them in person. This can make it difficult for people with specific accessibility or transportation needs, as well as people who are uncomfortable in large crowds. So we set out to make all-natural vegan soap that is accessible to everyone where all the information can easily be found online from the comfort of your home.

Our soap is vegan friendly, made with ethically sourced quality ingredients, and does not contain any harsh chemicals that dry out skin such as Sodium Laureth Sulfate. We use an olive oil based  soap with a variety of pure essential oils, mica powders, fragrance oils, botanicals, and locally sourced ingredients to create unique-looking and smelling soap. Our saponification takes approximately 4 weeks to guarantee a quality bar of soap. Without the use of goat's milk, honey, and other perishable ingredients our soap has a shelf life of 3 years without the need for preservatives.

Shoreside Soaporium was created by two like-minded friends with the goal of starting their own business and turning it into something big. Abrahim graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a focus on economics and accounting but spent his free time learning how things worked such as auto mechanics, design, and marketing. Riley received his Auto Body and Collision Technician certificate at College of the North Atlantic but focused on entrepreneurship with his startup "Laus Deo Glass". During the Covid-19 lockdown, we used our strengths from our respective backgrounds to create a business plan and with our combined experiences, attention to detail, and entrepreneurial thinking, it wasn't long before we had our first batch of soap made.

Health Canada rules and regulations regarding cosmetics are very important to us at Shoreside Soaporium. Cosmetic Notification Forms (CNF) are submitted for any and all products being sold. A full INCI (International Nomenclature Cosmetic Ingredient) ingredients list is provided with each soap, along with any additional information required. If you have any questions, please reach out and we will do our best to accommodate you
